THE COMPUTER LEARNING CENTER

The Housing Authority Computer Learning Center was opened in September of 2001 to create a positive environment for people living in public housing to explore the world of computers. Residents of Public Housing of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to come and take advantage of the 15 networked, internet ready computers awaiting them in the CLC.

The Housing Authority CLC offers a wide variety of activities for both adults and youths, including our Computer Basics Classes, Computer Repair Class, Youth Activity Classes, and our after school tutoring program. If you currently reside in Public Housing and are interested in any of our programs, we would love for you to explore and experience the many options the Learning Center can offer you!

Our class content is constantly changing so please check the Learning Center calendar for current classes. The classes are usually scheduled for Wednesday mornings from 10:00am to 12:00pm, but please check the dates and times on the schedule tomake sure there is a class scheduled for that week. The CLC Adult classes are free toanyone currently being assisted through our Public Housing program. If you are interested in attending, please contact the Housing Authority office or stop by our office.

Computer Repair Class
The Housing Authority is currently offering both beginner and advanced sessions of its Computer Repair Class. The class covers the basics of computer hardware and allows students to open up and explore the inside of a computer. By doing this, students can learn concepts of hardware installation and trouble-shooting. Both the beginner and advanced sessions last about 6 weeks and will continue to cycle as long as we have interested participants. This class is free to Public Housing residents, but requires registration before participation.

This class is taught at 9620 Telephone Road, Ventura, CA, 93004. Please note this location is different from the other computer classes which are taught at 995 Riverside Street, Ventura, CA, 93001.

If you have any questions or would like to register for the next session, please contact the Housing Authority office at (805) 648-5008.

Tutoring Center
The Housing Authority Learning Center also offers a wonderful resource to any students living in public housing with our after school tutoring program. The Tutoring Center opens its door during the after school hours to anyone who needs help with their homework or is just looking for a quiet place to do their work. No appointments are necessary.

The Housing Authority Learning Center is constantly searching for volunteers to teach classes (youth or adult), tutor students, or help in the learning center. If you would like to get involved with any projects in the Learning Center, please contact the Housing
Authority at (805) 648-5008.
