EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN
Program Summary
The American Red Cross recommends that you have a plan and know what to
do in case of an emergency. If commuting to work, make sure you have
alternate supplies such as a disaster supply kit in you vehicle and a compact
kit on public transportation.
Flood
There
are routine quarterly tests of the 11 sirens of the Casitas Dam Siren
System that occur at on the second Wednesday of April, July, October and January.
These sirens are located in the Ventura Avenue-Highway 33-Casitas
Springs Area, stretching from the ocean up to Casitas Dam.
Residents of the area will hear voice test messages and test
chimes/tones emanating from the sirens for approximately 10 minutes.
Voice messages will be in both English and Spanish. The next test
will be Wednesday, April 11.
 In
case of Flood from Casitas Dam and or any major disaster and you are outside:
Prepare to self-evacuate. Know in advance where and how to seek higher
ground.
Avoid walking or driving through flood water.
If car stalls, abandon it immediately and climb to higher ground.
If an extremely strong earthquake occurs, immediately seek higher ground.
Listen for sirens and follow instructions.
If you are indoors:
Be ready to evacuate as directed by the designated official.
Time permitting, move vital material and equipment to higher ground.
Evacuation Routes South of
Shell Road
South of Shell Road, if instructed to evacuate by car, use route
matching your neighborhood by color.

Use Olive Street, South to West Main Street, East to Garden Street,
South to Thompson Blvd East. Go to Anacapa Middle School |

Use Stanley Avenue to southbound Highway 33 to Highway 101 East.
Go to Ventura High School. If Highway 33 is closed, go South on
Olive Street or Ventura Avenue. |
| Yellow Zone |
|
Use Ventura Avenue South to East Santa Clara Street East. Go
to Buena High School. |
| Purple
Zone |
|
Use Cedar Street South to Poli Street East. Go to Balboa
Middle School. (East Main Street is reserved for emergency vehicles
only.) |
En Caso De Emergencia
Preparese para evacuar. Sepa por adelantodo donde y como encontrar un
terreo mas alto. Al sure de Shell Road, si ocurre un terremoto
extremadamente fuerte, evacuee a un terreno mas alto inmediatamente.
Escuche las sirenas y siga las instrucciones vocals.
