APPLICATION PROCESS

The City of San Buenaventura Housing Authority currently maintains an open waiting list with approximately 2300 applicants. A self-certified pre-application is required in order to be placed on the waiting list. The Housing Authority accepts applications only from individuals who are at least 18 years of age or emancipated by state law.

Prior to being assisted, applicants are contacted to determine final eligibility based on income, family composition, proof of immigration status and a clear criminal background check.

Triad Properties: The HA owns and manages some scattered site properties which are considered (non-HUD). Availability is based on vacancy openings. Rents do not exceed current Fair Market Rents (FMR) and are deemed reasonable by local standards. The Housing Authority completes tenant selection and screening. Annual income restrictions are based on individual properties. Vacancies are posted when available. Age restrictions may apply on some units.

Chapel Lane Senior Apartments: Located at the same location of the Section 8 office, this apartment complex houses persons who must be at least 62 years-old. One and two bedroom apartments are available based on vacancy. Tenant rent is based on 30 percent of the monthly adjusted income.
