FAMILY SELF SUFFICIENCY PROGRAM (FSS)

The FSS program seeks to promote local strategies and the coordination of community resources. FSS helps families increase their income and improve their budgeting skills, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency. An FSS Program Coordinator works with program participants to link them to the supportive services they need to succeed.

A special benefit to this program is that once residents start working, using a formula, a portion of their increase in income is placed into an escrow account that can be accessed once their FSS contract is fulfilled. Residents are encouraged to use these funds to purchase a home or start a business.
